Imagine Eyes installs a breakthrough cellular-resolution retinal tomograph at Emory University

October 1, 2025 — Atlanta, GA, USA, and Orsay, France

Imagine Eyes just installed an M2OCT retinal imaging system at Emory University in Atlanta, in the Eagle-Eye Suite — a state-of-the-art facility that offers AI-powered imaging for eye health. Professor Michaël Girard, a renowned ophthalmic scientist and AI researcher who founded the Eagle-Eye Suite in July 2025, said: “I am thrilled that we can now use the first clinical multimodal retinal imaging device capable of achieving near-histological 3D resolution.”

Professor Girard and his research team address unmet medical needs related to sight-threatening ocular neuropathies such as glaucoma, as well as neurological diseases, including Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. Their goal is to advance precision medicine and preserve the visual and mental health of millions of people worldwide.

Imagine Eyes’ engineers created the M2OCT system to enable the detection of extremely early retinal microlesions and the development of highly personalized therapies. The device provides unprecedented 3D resolution by combining advanced imaging modalities, including swept-source optical coherence tomography, with adaptive optics technology derived from astrophysics.

By associating this breakthrough imaging technology with highly advanced AI techniques, Professor Girard’s team is developing ultra-precise biomarkers to diagnose ophthalmic and neurological diseases and guide the development and use of new therapies.

Thank you Michael Girard, Thanadet Chuangsuwanich, Charis Chiang, Patipol Tiyajamorn, Yibo Chen, Christophe Rondeau, Loïc Le Kernevez and other colleagues for successfully implementing the M2OCT system in the Eagle-Eye Suite!
