The irx3™ is a versatile and easy-to-use diagnostic instrument that perfectly fits into the clinic’s workflow. It measures the eye’s wavefront aberrations in a fast and simple one-step procedure. The irx3 combines wavefront aberrometry, autokeratometry and accommodation assessment into a single device.

The highest precision in wavefront diagnostics

The irx3′s high-resolution Shack-Hartmann sensor enables assessing regular as well as large and irregular refractive errors with submicron precision and unbeatable repeatability. The irx3 software displays results in various formats including normalized Zernike coefficients, diopter-based power coefficients and color maps.

The irx3 measures the following aberrations:

  • Spherical defocus
  • Astigmatism
  • Coma
  • Trefoil
  • Spherical aberration
  • and higher-order wavefront aberrations

The power of aberrometry applied to assessing accommodation

The irx3 enables objective assessments of the accommodative function. To do so, the device automatically stimulates the patient’s vision at varying distances while taking multiple wavefront measurements. In addition to the eye’s focus response, the results include all the changes in higher-order wavefront aberrations induced by the accommodative process. Presented in easily interpreted graphs, these data provide a unique insight into patients’ accommodation and presbyopia.

Data export for laser refractive surgery

Wavefront data acquired with the irx3 can be exported in a few clicks for easy incorporation into refractive surgery procedures using laser systems from Schwind EyeTech Solutions®.
